“You can't go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.”

— C.S. Lewis

About me

I became a therapist because I believe in the power of relationships to help us grow, heal, and become our best selves. I feel privileged to walk alongside clients in their vulnerable moments, supporting them as they reconnect with their inner strength and create meaningful, lasting change.

Clients often view me as an educator, compassionate supporter, as well as someone who helps them find clarity and direction in their journey. I empower my clients to make changes at a pace that feels right for them, offering support and tools to reach their goals in a direct and non-judgmental way. I approach therapy with curiosity, compassion, and a deep respect for each person's unique story. My work is grounded in attachment-based, trauma-informed, and systemic frameworks. I use mindfulness skills to help clients build awareness and regulation, and I see relationships—both past and present—as key to understanding current patterns. I also take a holistic view, considering how physical health, environment, and emotional experiences intersect to shape behavior and decision-making.

I began my journey in the field of mental health 17 years ago as a volunteer with the Veterans Affairs Health System in Puerto Rico—an experience that inspired me to pursue a degree in Psychology. In 2010, I relocated to Chicago to earn a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, where I also completed an internship providing support to Latina women affected by domestic violence.

Following graduate school, I joined the Cook County Health system as a Bilingual Psychotherapist, working with individuals managing both medical and mental health challenges. In 2016, I transitioned into private practice, where I served as a psychotherapist and clinical supervisor. During this time, I provided supervision to clinicians completing their clinical hours toward LMFT and LCPC licensure in Illinois.

Therapeutic models I use

  • Internal Family Systems

Internal Family Systems (IFS) helps us understand the different parts of ourselves that influence our thoughts, feelings, and actions. Think of these parts like different voices inside, each with its own needs and goals. By recognizing and caring for these parts, we can create more harmony within ourselves and make better choices, leading to emotional healing and personal growth.

  • Emotion-Focused Therapy

Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) focuses on understanding and expressing emotions in healthy ways. Often, we hold back or avoid certain emotions, but EFT helps you explore them in a safe and supportive space. By fully experiencing and processing emotions, you can gain greater clarity, resolve past hurts, and build stronger emotional connections with others.

  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) teaches practical skills to manage intense emotions and improve relationships. It combines acceptance of where you are with the motivation to make positive changes. DBT helps you develop skills in areas like mindfulness, emotional regulation, and interpersonal communication, empowering you to navigate challenges in healthier ways.

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) focuses on helping you accept difficult emotions and thoughts rather than trying to fight or avoid them. By learning to be present with these experiences, you can commit to actions that align with your values, even in the face of discomfort. ACT supports you in building a meaningful life, one that reflects your true priorities and goals.
